This year Baltic Environmental Forum is going to publish the book “Adressing the Weathercock” (“Prakalbinkim vėtrunges”) about the weathercock traditions in the Curonian Spit National Park. The book will be published with your support of 2% of Personal Income Tax.
The uniqueness of the Curonian Spit is very fragile. The formation of its landscape was influenced by the local people and the people living across the Curonian Lagoon, their traditions, customs and crafts. However, local people left their land, the cultural connection with the communities living across the Lagoon were lost. Today the Curonian Spit is becoming a touristic site without a soul. Visitors admire the silence and the beauty of the land, however they often do not know (or even do not have a chance to find out) about the heritage of the Curonian Spit.
Therefore, we would like to contribute to the conservation of the cultural heritage of the Curonian Spit and give visitors the possibility to know more about the traditions of the land. We kindly invite You to join the initiative too!
