Preparation work for main project “Cooperation with Kingdom of Norway to encourage environmentally-friendly farming and to integrate rural regions into implementation of European Common Agricultural Policy in Lithuania”

The goal of this project was to do preparation work needed to plan and organize the main project. The main project will aim for implementing requirements of EU Bird and Habitats Directives and biodiversity convention in agricultural areas. Economic analysis was made during preparation project. It’s purpose was to evaluate the benefit and competitiveness of agri-environmental measures compared to traditional farming practice. Agri-environmental measures currently are not popular among farmers, and this effects negatively valuable and globally or in EU protected habitats and species which depend on extensive farming.
During this project the expertise of agri-environmental measures was gained from Kingdom of Norway. A business trip for communicating with potential partners of main project was organized.

Marine Protected Areas in the Eastern Baltic Sea

This project will contribute to the overall objective of protection and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in the Eastern Baltic Sea (costal and offshore waters of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). In this context implementing the EU’s Natura 2000 network in marine areas is a key instrument.

INAWARE: Cross-border cooperation on integrated nature and water resource management between Bauska and Biržai districts

Regional and local authorities have a role to play in practical implementation of the nature conservation and water management policies by participating and contributing to various planning processes.
The overall goal of the project is to strengthen cooperation among Bauska and Biržai regions for better nature and water management through integration of these issues in planning processes.

Strengthening and modernisation of protected areas administrations

Building new capacity and tools for protected area staff to manage efficiently their areas and visitors, building new visual outlook for parks, improving parks’ potential to serve visitors and getting them inspired of the richness of Lithuanian nature and culture therein

Favourable conservation Status of boreal Forest - Experience Exchange among Baltic and Nordic Experts

The project contributing to the successful implementation of the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with regard to protection of boreal forest habitat types also to contribute to the European discussion on the forest management strategy concerning boreal forest habitats through facilitating networking and experience exchange among Baltic and Nordic forest experts as well as dialogue between the European Commission and Baltic/Nordic countries.

Life-Nature Co-op project

The project is to promote the quality of management and implementation of LIFE-Nature projects dealing with management of Natura 2000 sites through co-operation and exchange of experience among the existing and prospective project implementers in Baltic countries

Baltic States Regional Co-operation Programme for Natura 2000 (BANAT)project

The project was set-up to assist the three Baltic Ministries of Environment in the implementation of the requirements of the Birds and Habitats Directives and development of the NATURA 2000 Network
