The seminar is organized in the frame of the project on “Favourable Conservation Status of Boreal Forest – Experience Exchange among Baltic and Nordic Experts” that is financially supported by the European Union, Nordic Council of Ministers and Estonian Environment Investment Centre.

The goal of the seminar is:

  • To discuss conservation status assessment of forest habitats for EC reporting in 2007
    • Methodology
    • Practical examples from EU countries
    • Coordination needs between the Baltic States
  • To discuss organising monitoring and conservation status assessment of forest habitats in the next reporting period
    • Indicators for conservation status assessment of forest habitats developed by the Baltic and Nordic experts
    • How to come from developed indicators to monitoring systems?
  • To discuss future prospects of forest protection in the Baltic States and relevant European developments

Target audience:

Competent authorities of the Baltic States; boreal forest experts from NGOs and scientific institutions; associations of private forest owners and state forest management institutions from the Baltic States; representatives of competent authorities and forest experts from Nordic and other EU countries. In total we expect to have ca. 50 participants.

Language of the seminar will be English.

The accommodation, meals and travel of participants will be organised and covered by the BEF. Arrival of participants at the seminar venue will be in the evening of Wednesday, November 22. Departure will be in the afternoon of Friday, November 24.

Accommodation will be organised in double rooms. In case you have any preferences, please let us know in advance. Please note that we do not provide per diem for the participants.
